Scientific Data

Managing access to and use of data produced in the context of research activities to ensure their preservation is crucial. The need to ensure the management of scientific data is seen by all who produce and finance science as fundamental.

In the management of scientific data we are faced with several steps - from planning and data management, data creation, definition of metadata, access and use, storage and backup, to the sharing and preservation (and reuse) of scientific data.

Some institutions recommend the existence of specific repositories for the sharing of scientific data (GenBank case), others lodge scientific data in freely accessible repositories.
